Blueberry-Lemon GLAZED Donut Waffles
What’s better than Donuts & Waffles?? Nothing! Well, expect for these delicious, glazed, Donut Waffles that are breakfast perfection!!!

This recipe was altered from the traditional donut and glaze recipes to mix together the perfect batter for waffles that are crunchy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside.
With the combination of two of the most delicious breakfast indulges, there won’t be a mouth in the house that won’t devour these yummy waffles!! One batch just wasn’t enough and I found myself having to whip up some more. Although, who’s complaining because I just got my picky eaters to eat a breakfast that they usually wouldn’t on a normal basis.
The skewers were the cherry on top to this breakfast. My toddlers were so fascinated by these “donut waffle pops” that they couldn’t resist to try a bite.

The base of these donut waffles was the old-fashioned donut recipe, just altered to make a batter consistent enough to go in the waffle maker. The glaze is a traditional glaze recipe, with added freshly squeezed blueberries. I believe straining them made all the difference as there wasn’t much of that skin that you’ll usually get when blending together a smoothie with some blueberries. I used just a typical strainer, on top of a smoothie blender cup (because I was originally going to blend them until I thought about straining them), took a spoon, squeezed the juice out of the blueberries, into the cup, and poured it into a bowl where I made my glaze.

After I had my glaze ready and my batter all set for the waffle maker, it was time for the moment of truth…. Drum roll please…. 🥁
The batter was a thick consistency that gave the waffles more of a donut “fluff” and were absolutely DELICIOUS!! And everyone’s new breakfast favorite!

I only put a small spoonful of the batter into the middle of the waffle maker to make these breakfast treats fun-sized for the little ones but feel free to fill each side to make regular waffles as well. Just be sure to add on a few minutes to the cooking time!
These were super fun & quick to throw together, with the longest time spent babysitting the waffle maker while I impatiently waited for them to fluff-up. Beginner cook, chef, or anywhere in between, these can be whipped up by anyone with a waffle maker.
