Broccoli & Spinach Pizza

Made with fresh Spinach and broccoli, blended together with pasta sauce, and topped with cheese for a healthy pizza the whole family will love!

Did you know?

Did you know that broccoli was accidentally invented by crossing cauliflower seeds with pea seeds?! I can’t imagine a world without this nutritional powerhouse that’s packed solid with vitamins, fiber, potassium, antioxidants, minerals & much more. Oh, and you can thank those leafy greens for giving your little ones the energy that keeps them playing harder, longer.

If you look up the healthiest vegetables, spinach and broccoli are always listed in the top 3, with spinach majority of the time falling at number one. Spinach is known as a superfood because of how full it is with vitamins and antioxidants, helping improve vision and also acting as a natural laxative.

What’s better than a pizza that’s healthy and enjoyable??

Absolutely nothing!! This meal is an all-in-one and everybody’s favorite.

I’d suggest every parent to encourage their little ones to eat greens and educate them about vegetables and healthy eating. Not only educate them, but be a role model for them as well. If they see you eating healthy, they’re more likely to eat healthy too.

Don’t judge a dish by its cover

The green color of this pizza made just about everybody I introduced it to, turn their heads. After a little reassuring and persuading though, I managed to get all 11 people in my household to try this pizza and a few of my friends and one slice just wasn’t enough for anybody.

Even my toddlers fell in love with this pizza recipe and ask for the “green pizza” all the time now! You can even make dinner time more fun by telling your little ones it’s a “monster pizza.” My babies lost interest when they seen the color, knowing broccoli was blended in it but after hearing the monster story I made up, they were so anxious for it to finish and ate every bite! Sometimes all you have to do is change the way your present food to your kids, and it makes all the difference at meal time.

Although this pizza may not be appealing to the eye, it was the most delicious homemade pizza I’ve ever made. This was my first attempt at a hidden-veggie meal and it was a huge success! It’s packed solid with everything your body benefits from and it taste amazing at the same time. The best part is, if I didn’t tell you what I blended together, you’d have a hard time guessing what the ingredients were. I can’t wait to try more of these recipes because I was so pleased with how this one came out.

Ingredients

Pizza Sauce (Makes 3 Pizzas)

  • 3/4 Cup Prego “Roasted Garlic & Herb”
  • 1/4 Cup Braised Spinach
  • 1/3 Cup Steamed Broccoli (with stems cut off)
  • 1/2 tsp Parsley Flakes
  • Sprinkle of Onion Powder
  • 2 Tbs Parmesan Cheese

Spinach Braise

  • 1 1/2 Cup Packed Fresh Spinach Leaves
  • 1 tbs Olive Oil
  • Cracked Black Pepper
  • Ground Sea Salt
All the ingredients needed to put together this scrumptious pizza!

Instructions

  1. Start steaming your broccoli. (I lost part of my steamer so I make-shifted it & it worked just as good.) Steam for about 10 minutes or until the broccoli is soft & a fork can easily poke through.
  2. While your broccoli is steaming, start braising your spinach. Take about a handful, or 1 1/2 cups packed with fresh spinach leaves & place in a pan with 1 tbs of olive oil. Once in the pan, sprinkle ground sea salt & cracked black pepper on top of the spinach & stir. Cook 3 min. The leaves will have shrunk and that 1 1/2 cups will now become a 1/3 cup, once cooked.
  3. Once your broccoli is steamed & your spinach is braised, put them together into a blender. Pour in the Prego sauce, along with the Parmesan cheese, onion powder, & parsley flakes.
  4. Blend together.
  5. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  6. Roll out your dough sheet & spread 1/4 cups of sauce evenly across the top. Be careful not to roll the dough out too thin or put too much sauce because then it won’t cook correctly.
  7. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese across the top along with your choice of shredded cheese. (I chose sharp cheddar cheese & it was delicious, but any kind will work!)
  8. Optional: Place pepperonis or other preferable toppings on top.
  9. Place in the oven & cook for 9-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted & the dough is golden brown.
  10. Take out, cut up & enjoy! 😋

Spread across cauliflower crust or change it up and add your choice of cheese and topping for a pizza that’s customized to your liking.
